Yevgeny Nuzhin fled the front and surrendered to the Ukrainian army on September 4, saying in an interview that he wanted to fight against the Russian army. He was later exchanged by Ukrainian soldiers and, once in the Russian camp, was sentenced to death by the mercenary unit he had joined in order to be released from prison.
