Levant or in Arabic الشام, Ash-Shām is a precisely undefined geographical region that covers much of the Middle East south of the Taurus Mountains, bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the west and the Arabian Desert and upper Mesopotamia to the east. includes the Caucasus Mountains, the Arabian Peninsula, or Anatolia – although sometimes Cilicia is also included.
